Overview of Albums

Live! At the Pompadour

AKA: "The Dream Album". This “Live” album is a dream where Absurd Smoque is playing in front of a live audience of fantastic beings. From the 1st track where we are introduced by the Piper's son on the hills of Elysian to the awakening of the Spirit in "Spirit Lake" this dream album lays bare the soul of Absurd Smoque for all to see. It should be listened to in the order of the tracks, but feel free to listen in any order you wish. This album features two inspirational orchestral tracks (Der Haagan Voit and Spirit Lake) which will breath new life into your subconscious.

Evolution

Evolution is a change in the inherited traits of a population from one generation to the next; originated by Charles Darwin in his book, "The Origin of Species". This album is a representation of civilizations evolution through time; from the the beginnings of civilization realized in the track Aperture to the recent future in Space Age. Each track represents a given moment in world history, including the coronation of Napoleon in "1804", the summer prior to the out-break of WWI and the transformation of society from a world of color to a world of black and white in the track "The Longest Summer" (if you imagine the past you will notice that your mind sees the time prior to WWI in color, but from WWI until after WWII in black and white). "Pax Augusta" represents the great peaceful reign during the Roman Empire. "Olympus Massif" looks back at the beginnings Greek Civilization when the gods of lived amongst the human population. Throughout recorded and pre-recorded history there have always been and always will be the strange and interesting people, people who add that element of otherworldly aspects to life, these people are represented in the track "Freak Show". Representing the exhilarating fears that life has thrust upon human endeavors the original version of "A Scottish Nightmare" is included in this album . The album cover is a rock formation painted to resemble fishes located in the Mojave desert just outside Death Valley in California. The photo was taken by the artist.

Origins

A unique and sometimes garish mix of horns, trumpets, pianos, organs, and drums; Origins takes you on a tour through life. From carnivals to outer-space, Origins introduces you to the sounds of Absurd Smoque. The cover art for this photo is a montage of over 30 separate photographs. Taken in Venice Beach, California by the artist.

Q

This album is a recognition of life beyond the confines of earth. It is a vision of the future, but not just of our future, the universes future. The music is intended to allow the listener to escape the confines of our physical constraints and travel beyond mere existence...into the Continuum. "Down the Rabbit Hole" exemplifies the travel from our physical realities into a world devoid of the quantum mechanics of our world. We travel to a world where up is down and down is up or both at the same time. "Wake Me Up When I Am Dreaming" describes the penultimate of human achievement allowing us a glimpse into an experience beyond our comprehension. The simple and melodic track "Sky Castle" should be enjoyed relaxing on the couch drinking a nice beverage as you melt your stress and worries away. The songs can be listened to in any order but it should be noted they are to be listened to as a whole. The album cover is from Mono Lake in California. The photo was taken by the artist.
